Lab Policy

The laboratory is an integral part of this course. Students are expected to attend all of their weekly lab sessions and submit the required lab reports as described below. Every student will attend their selected lab session weekly throughout the semester. All students must be present and on time for each and every weekly 2-hour lab session. If you miss a lab session due to an excused (unavoidable) absence, you must explain it to the professor; then if it is approved, you may make an appointment with your lab assistant to make up the lab.

Each lab report is due at the start of the next class session (two days later), unless otherwise specified. Late lab reports and/or files will be accepted until the second class session after the lab session, with a 25% overall grade penalty.

The lab sessions are held in the Digital CadLab (BN320).

Lab Grading

Each lab assignment will receive a grade using the 100 point scale, based on the pre-lab work completed before the lab session, activities during the lab session, and the written lab report submitted after the lab session, as follows.

20%

Pre-Lab work: Submitted on-time at the start of the lab session, signed by TA, also submitted in the Lab Report, written with apparent high effort toward the solution.

35%

Program ASM file: Submitted in the Lab Report, good algorithm and comments, efficient code, proper use of symbols, without “magic numbers”, good document structure as printed, plus any other specified requirements.

5%

Program LST file: Submitted in the Lab Report, proper landscape orientation, includes symbol table, good document structure as printed.

20%

Correct program execution demonstrated and results recorded at the end of the lab session, signed by TA. NOTES: This program demonstration information is recorded for full credit only at the end of the assigned 2-hour lab session. The demonstration may be completed for the TA after the end of the normal lab time, up until the start of the next class session (two days later), with a 5% overall grade penalty. All these 20 points are lost if a lab session is not attended or if no demo is completed before the next class session.

20%

Correct answers to the lab questions, submitted in the Lab Report.
